SHELLS UPPON THE WARM SANDS

by Marcelo Maciel de Almeida

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth

A castle in the sky, heaven on the earth

Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven

Heaven is my journey, take me now, my God

The eye is the lamp of the body

Your words are lamp to my flash, to my feet

I want my whole body filled with light

Take my mortal soul now, my dear hopeful God

No more darkness, no more tears, no more cries

I want to serve an only mater

No more worries about a single life

Look at the birds of the air

They do not sow or reap or store away in barns

Shells uppon the warm sands
