FILE 5 C - EXTRA VOCABULARY
- apply for sth: to send a letter or a completed form to a company to ask for a job.
- be sacked: to be told to leave their job usually because they have done sth wrong.
- contestant: a person who takes part in a contest.
- overtime: extra time that you work after your usual working hours.
- self-employed: working for yourself.
- stunt man/woman: noun [C] a man or woman who performs stunts, especially instead of an actor in a film or television programme
- swap: to give something and be given something else instead; to exchange.FILE 5 MEETINGS
- be no big deal: INFORMAL to not be a serious problem: It just means we'll have to pay a little more - it's no big deal.
- major: more important, bigger or more serious than others of the same type
FILE 5 - FORMAL LETTERS AND A CV
- covering letter: a letter you send when you also enclose sth else. e.g.: a CV or form, where you explain what you are sending and why.
- enclose: to send sth in the same envelope or parcel as sth else.
